Williams aims to avoid 2026 disaster in 2027
Williams is taking strategic steps to prevent a repeat of its 2026 performance collapse in the 2027 season.
Team principal James Vowles said Williams has drawn up a comprehensive plan to avoid a repeat of the 2026 "disaster" in the 2027 season. The introduction of new technical regulations saw the team start the campaign from the back foot.
Williams missed the pre‑season shakedown in Barcelona and revealed that the FW48 was initially 28 kg overweight. It took more than six months of work to bring the car up to the intended specifications.
Vowles stressed that the shortcomings have been clearly identified and that improvements are being made in those areas. The team aims to stick to its development schedule, comply with the new regulations and deliver a competitive start to the season.
