Verstappen Races In GT This Weekend: Portimão 3 Hours Start Times And Where To Watch
After his Singapore win, Max Verstappen will race a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the GT World Challenge Europe finale at Portimão. The three-hour race starts at 19:00 Turkish time on Saturday 17 October and can be watched free on GT World’s YouTube channel.

Just a week after winning in Singapore, Max Verstappen is back on track. The Red Bull driver is taking a short break from Formula 1 to race his own team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Portimão 3 Hours, the season finale of GT World Challenge Europe. The race takes place at the circuit in Portugal’s Algarve region on Saturday 17 October, starting at 17:00 local time (19:00 Turkish time) and finishing at 20:00 (22:00 Turkish time).
Why is Verstappen racing?
Verstappen will share the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing car with Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham. The car’s regular drivers, Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon, will be racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship that same weekend (the 6 Hours of Barcelona), so the team brought in its reserve drivers. When his entry was first announced, Verstappen said the next seven weeks would be busy but that he would enjoy it.
What is at stake?
Verstappen’s previous GT3 outing this year came at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where he looked set for victory before a reliability problem struck in the closing hours. The team is out of contention for the Endurance Cup title, but it goes into the finale with momentum after scoring its first Endurance Cup podium at the Nürburgring round. Verstappen is the second active F1 driver to race in GT World Challenge Europe this season, after Lance Stroll contested the season opener at Paul Ricard.
