Racing Bulls To Decide 2027 Line-Up In The Coming Weeks: Three Contenders, Two Seats
Racing Bulls team principal Alan Permane says the team will confirm its 2027 line-up in the coming weeks. Alongside Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad, F2 title contender Nikola Tsolov is also in the frame for a seat.
Racing Bulls have yet to decide which drivers will race for them in 2027. Team principal Alan Permane said a decision will come in the coming weeks as the team chooses between three strong contenders.
Every team on the grid except Racing Bulls and Haas has confirmed that it will keep its current driver pairing next year. That has put the spotlight on whether the Faenza-based squad will offer new deals to Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad. Both drivers have made good use of the car’s pace to score points regularly and lift the team to fifth in the constructors’ standings. Lawson has 69 points in total, 14 of which came while he stood in for the injured Isack Hadjar at Red Bull. Rookie Lindblad has scored 38 so far.
Meanwhile, Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov is waiting for his F1 opportunity. The Bulgarian has impressed by fighting for the Formula 2 title in his first full season.
Asked before the Singapore Grand Prix when the decision would be made, Permane said he did not want to give a definite date and that the team is in no rush. He explained that the team has two fantastic drivers plus a talent in F2 who is ready to step up, but that three drivers do not fit into two seats, so they will take a little more time to make sure they find the right pairing for next year.
Racing Bulls have long served as a development ground for future Red Bull drivers, with most of the senior team’s recent drivers proving themselves at the sister team first. According to Permane, that role is what makes the decision complicated. The team likes to prioritise giving juniors a chance, yet Lawson and Lindblad are on course to deliver the team’s best-ever result in the teams’ championship. Permane said speed tops the list of criteria, but because the team aims to develop young talent, it looks not only at the present but also at what drivers can achieve in the future.
