The FIA confirmed that a timing and scoring system glitch during the Singapore GP sprint qualifying prevented some drivers' times from being displayed, and that a second error also occurred.

SQ1 was halted with a red flag after Sergio Pérez hit the barrier at Turn 5, extracted his car and returned to the pits, losing his damaged front wing in the process.

The governing body admitted that these errors created a power disparity between the cars.
